List of categories with category color style

Using the great little plugin Category Colors.

I am able to get a list of Event categories in a page using a plugin called List Categories, which allows a shortcode that gets the data from the taxonomy.

I would like to produce a list of Event categories styled the same way category colors does on the Calendar page. How can I access the colors assigned to each category?

https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar-category-colors/ is maintained by a 3rd party, and not officially part of our company. However, it is a very useful plugin, and one of our staff members maintains it independently. You can submit a support request to them at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/the-events-calendar-category-colors.

We do offer a few ways to display the calendar filtered by the categories.

1. You can use a shortcode on any post/page like [tribe_events view=”list” category=”barbecue”]. https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-calendar-views-tribe_events-shortcode/.

2. You can use a link to take people to see events within a category, such as http://wpshindig.com/events/category/learning/.

3. It might be way more than you need at this time, but the Filter Bar https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-events-filterbar/ can allow users to switch between category views as well.

Hey Courtney,

Thanks for the info. This site is already running Calendar PRO, Events Tickts Plus and Filter Bar. That all seems to be working great.

I will reach out to the Category Colors people and see how I go. What I’d like to achieve is a list down the left hand side of the home page with links to the category calendars, as in suggestion 2. I can get the list, and it’s fine, I’d just like to style it with the colours.

This site is running about 500 events in about 25 categories, so you can imagine it’s a few too many categories to have in a menu.

Thanks Luke. Figuring out how to retrieve the colours assigned to each category is not really in our wheelhouse. It is something you’d need to figure out or with the help of TEC Category Colors author.
