ParticipantI’m following up on an old topic that got closed before I got a chance to reply.
If you read the old topic, you can see that the language prefix automatically gets written in most links, but on the last reply, which I missed, the moderator was talking about a different link. I think the links in that support post are still valid, but if you go to our calendar:
http://www.calle24sf.org/en/events-calendar/
While normal links display fine, if there are too many links to display all in month view, which is our default view, the link that says, “view all 5 events” like it does on August 14, or most weekend days, gets a 404.
That’s because most of the links write the language prefix, and this one doesn’t. I suspect it’s not a relative link and the others are.
We have been getting complaints from community users who can’t see their events on popular days. The other views, list, week, etc. also throw 404s because the language prefix doesn’t get written.
I hear that you’re not supporting polylang yet, but this doesn’t seem like a huge fix.
I suppose I could try to test for a url that’s http://www.calle24sf.org/events-calendar/
without the language prefix, test for the language and make it change the location to add the language prefix in, but I’m always hesitant to apply fixes for plugins that get updated often, negating changes. Is this on your radar at all? I like community events, and don’t want to switch, but need to make the users happy, haven’t had a site with so many 404s on it ever. I have seen previous posts about this issue, not from me.
Thanks,

MemberGood evening Wendy and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic. As you pointed out, Polylang is not supported at this point.
As you might also know, for now, our ressources are focused on expanding compatibility with WPML.Since that project is not near completion, it is unfortunately very unlikely that we will be able to tackle this issue.
With that in mind, a lot of users have managed to get most of our features working with Polylang and sometimes QTranslateX.
For that reason, it is part of our mid-term roadmap (this fall) to investigate the efforts required to expand our compatibility to other multilingual plugins.Unfortunately, I cannot commit to a release date at this point.
As per your specific situation, there are still a couple of things you could do on your end:
- Use a redirection plugin and add a rule to rewrite that type of URL to your liking (to include the prefix for example)
- Make template customizations for the views you want to tweak. You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works. Basically what that means is that you’ll be able to control how that “View alll…” links work
I realize this is not perfect, but I truly believe it could improve your situation.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,
