ParticipantI use Regonline for event registration. How can I include a link or button to Regonline in the event details that makes it clear to people that this is how they book their place?

ParticipantHey Gwyneth,
One option for this is to hard-code a link into something like your event description. However, I think what you mean here is something like a field in the section of the events page where the Venue information and Organizer information and such appear βΒ is this correct?
If so, it seems like your best option here is to use Events Calendar Pro’s “Additional Fields” feature. You can learn how to use this here β https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-additional-fields/
Definitely give that article a read, and try using the methods it prescribes. Hopefully that works well for your site and you’re able to show the Regonline links as you desire!
Let us know if that’s the case π

ParticipantHello George,
Yes I would like a link or ideally a button to appear in the box with venue and organiser information. I tried adding the link as an additional field but the link is quite long and it spilled over the edge of the box which does not look good. Can I put a button into the additional field? Or use link text? I don’t know how to do html.
For now I have put a button in the event description and in the side bar but ideally want it with the event details.
Surely there are others who use Regonline or an external registration sytem? How have they done it?
best wishes

ParticipantHey Gwyneth,
There are possible courses of action here βΒ if you don’t know HTML, then unfortunately creating a custom button or something is a bit tricky because we don’t offer support for building out customizations ourselves π sorry to bear that news.
You might find it easiest, perhaps, to just use a URL shortener. Google’s, for example, is here β https://goo.gl/
And so instead of using your long regonline URL directly, you can paste that long URL into the goo.gl URL shortener, shorten it, then use the new shortened URL instead. It’ll look like this: http://goo.gl/hp3P25
If you click that, it’ll take you to http://theeventscalendar.com
The Google URL Shortener even lets you track clicks on the link, which is a handy stat to have, so that’s pretty cool too (screenshot β https://cloudup.com/c1wRTiIHAZ0).
Just an idea there. If you’re interested in making a more complex customization, there are two resources I can recommend that might be helpful. First is our Themer’s Guide, which outlines the process for adding custom Events Calendar template files on your site β https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/
However, since you mentioned not knowing HTML, you may find it easiest to hire someone to build what you need. We have a list of well-reviewed freelance customizers here β https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/find-a-customizer/
I hope all of this information helps. Let us know if it does!
β George
