GuestGood evening,
My name is Randy and I’m a Web Developer who is working with a client that uses the Events Calendar plugin (along with the Filter Bar and WooCommerce extensions. Our client is also currently in the process of rebuilding their website and I had a few questions regarding the licensing for your plugins.
1) If our client were to reactivate the plugins, would they be given a new set of license keys or would the same ones remain?
2) Is it possible to reactivate the subscription and then use the re-activated license on a new hosting platform with a fresh, new WordPress instance?
– Would this have any impact to their current setup?
– If not, is the license restricted to just one activation on a single instance?
3) Would reactivating the license trigger an automatic download/install of the latest versions for the modules? (My guess is no).
4) Given the version numbers listed above, would we need to be concerned about the upgrade to the latest versions of the modules?Any information around these items would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and enjoy your evening.
Randy

KeymasterHi Randy,
Thanks for emailing support. I’ll answer your questions in order below.
1) Same license key remains
2) Yes, its possible, license is tied to the domain name.
3) You are correct, it will not download unless you specifically update it or have automatic plugin updates activated.
4) I’m not able to see what version you are using but its always a good idea to update to the latest version if possible. Keep in mind if you have any customizations that are not done through the child theme, those would be lost with any updates.Hope that helps.
Thanks,

GuestHi Brendan,
Thank you for the quick response. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how your response for #2 works.
Here’s an example.
Client is on abc.com, using The Events Calendar Pro, with an expired License Key of 12345.
If the Client wants to build on abc.newsite.com and wants to reactivate their License Key (12345), are you saying we can just use that License Key on the new site?
What happens to the original abc.com – because it has the same License Key, does this cause an activation conflict?
Thank you again for your help.
Randy

KeymasterHi Randy,
Sorry misunderstood, if its expired then you would need to purchase a new license or renew that license in order to continue its use on the new site. What you would do is go into your account and go to License Keys to remove the old domain from your license so there is not a conflict.
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks,

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
