For some reason the search field values on the /events page are defaulting to “Date”, “Search” and “Location” – not just as placeholders, causing the calendar to always return: “There were no results found.”

I’m not sure when the issue began but it is fairly new. Also, I’m unable to verify the license keys on the site for the Events Calendar Pro and the Woo Tickets plugins despite having unused license keys. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Thanks!

    Howdy Josh,

I would love to help you with this.

I have seen this before. Typically it is a conflict between a “shim” the theme uses for compatibility with ancient versions of IE, and The Events Calendar. To make sure of the source you can do a conflict test. This guide walks you through how to test for a conflict, and then identify what is conflicting.

There are generally a few fixes for it.

    1. Remove the Shim, and make it so IE7 are not quite as compatible with your site.
    2. Remove the placeholders, causing them to be blank.
    3. Write some custom JavaScript to make a patch between your theme and The Events Calendar.

Does one of those sound like a preferred option for you?

    Cheers!

Hi Brook, thanks for your reply. I think I’m fine with removing the placeholders…I’m guessing that would be the easiest? Can you point me in the direction to do that? Thanks!

That sounds like a plan, Josh. It is the easiest option for sure.

Paste the following snippet at the top of your theme’s functions.php file. Replace the opening “<?php” with this snippet, as this snippet includes that opening tag.

Does that all make sense? Did that work for you? Please let me know.

    Cheers!
