We are running two sites 2016.ramsgatefestival.org and ramsgate festival.org and got a message “the license key you supplied does not appear to be valid or is missing” so I headed over to https://theeventscalendar.com/license-keys/ and followed the link to purchase a multisite license. I took the option to upgrade to a Business Licence which https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-events-calendar-pro/ says that this will cover up to 3 sites.

I pasted the licence key into my settings page. I now get a message “Thank you! You have enabled a valid license. It looks like you are using this license within a multisite network. If you have 11 or more subsites, want network-level management, and/or require automatic updates, you need to upgrade to a multisite license. Read more about license options.”
I don’t have 11 or more subsides. I have 2 and I have purchased a licence that I understood covered this. Please tell me why this doesn’t work.

Good afternoon David and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the confusion surrounding the way our licenses work.
I would love to help you with this topic.

As a first step, I would totally recommend reading the following: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/multisite-license/

As you can see, running a personal or a business license on a multisite network is fine.
But, it does come at a cost: you will have to make the updates manually.

Furthermore, currently have a bug with the error / warning messages for multisite installs.
We are actively working on a fix for them.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

I’ve read this. If it is in some way related to my problem, I’m afraid I
    can’t see how. Confusion reins.

Ok, so what? We can make the updates manually, but at the moment I’ve no
great desire or interest in making updates – I just want to get our
licence and website working like it was.

Very little. Will the problem with our site be fixed when you fix this
problem? How long will that be? Is there a workaround solution in the
meantime. Will my upgrade be extended to compensate for this? Should the
    upgrade be refunded?

    You too.

    Good afternoon David,

    Thank you for writing back.

Ok, so what? We can make the updates manually, but at the moment I’ve no great desire or interest in making updates – I just want to get our licence and website working like it was.

Perhaps I miscommunicated what I meant. Let me try to clarify.

    1. When you are using anything but a true multisite license on a site that is part of a multisite install, you will get the following message:

Thank you! You have enabled a valid license. It looks like you are using this license within a multisite network. If you have 11 or more subsites, want network-level management, and/or require automatic updates, you need to upgrade to a multisite license. Read more about license options.”

This is not a bug, but rather a limitation on how our licensing works on multisite installations.

    2. The only way to get rid of the message above is to purchase a multisite license (which it appears you do not have a need for provided the number of sites using our products).

Will the problem with our site be fixed when you fix this
problem? How long will that be? Is there a workaround solution in the meantime. Will my upgrade be extended to compensate for this? Should the upgrade be refunded?

The only issue we currently have is that the messages might be confusing.
There is actually no loss of functionality involved.

Our work will be to make the messages clearer and more accurate based on each customer’s situation.

Simply put, as long as you have the latest version of our plugins installed (manually), you can ignore these messages.

And yes, you will be notified as soon as a fix on the messages is out.

    Have a good weekend,

    Geoff B.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
