ParticipantHi,
Embedded Google maps are displaying in English, instead of the appropriate language. Like this http://pasteboard.co/2eOqAbnG.png. What controls this?

MemberHi Keith.
On my local testing site set to Spanish, I set a Venue’s country and there was no “Spanish” choice in the drop-down — only “España”
And “Spain” didn’t output on the page.
Maybe you had your WordPress language set to English, set the Venue’s country, then changed your site language to Spanish?
If yes, maybe edit your Venue and save it with España.
Please let me know how things go for you.

ParticipantHi Cliff,
I have my admin language set to English, so all of my interface is in English, and I imagine that will cause the drop-down to appear in English, but I’m actually editing the Spanish version of the event. Screenshot.

MemberHi Keith. Thanks for the update. Does our WPML article help at all?
If not, please provide screenshots of your WPML settings.
Thanks.

ParticipantHi Cliff,
I have been through that article. I set up WPML according to its recommendations. Here’s the requested screen shot.
This is a problem specific to the embedded Google map. The rest of the interface – the sidebars, the menus etc – are appearing in Spanish. That makes me think that it’s not a problem related to the WPML site-wide settings, rather it’s something more specific to the embedded map. I wondered if it might be something to do with with the way it is called, whether it needs to be passed a country code, or whether the call needs to be to maps.es, something along those lines.

MemberI don’t believe this is the issue you’re referring to, but I thought you might want to add your vote to it: Add language parameter to Google Maps

MemberKeith, I double-checked with someone intimately familiar with WPML and how it relates to our plugins. Bottom line is that your issue is able to be replicated and its part of a bigger project of continuing to deepen our integration with / support for WPML (however you want to word it).
I’ve added this thread to one of our internal bug tracker tickets. I’ll mark this ticket as Pending Fix, which means this thread should receive a reply once the applicable fix has been released. I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.
