ParticipantI’ve installed events which looks dreadful on my site even though all the back end functionality appears to work. Upgraded to PRO – still dreadful.
– Dates won’t populate
– Details of event won’t populate
I’ve left the side live so you can see but it looks dreadful. I’m using the Professional Theme by Elegant ThemesNovember 25, 2013 at 2:17 pm #78487Barry
MemberThat is strange.
Could any other plugins be impacting (have you tried deactivating them) and does this only happen with your theme of choice, rather than with an unmodified copy of Twenty Twelve for instance?
Thanks!

ParticipantI have no idea – I’ve only just got the rest of the site working as I wanted. I’m reluctant to start messing around with plug-ins just in case I break what is already there. How would I be able to see if it works with an unmodified copy of Twenty Twelve. I paid for The Events Calendar then I paid for Pro – it looks awful, I’m pretty mortified and I’m concerned that I’m going to have to pay someone else to make it work because I don’t think I can.

MemberHopefully you only paid for Events Calendar PRO and not for The Events Calendar, which is free 🙂
I do appreciate your reluctance to mess with your stack of plugins, yet at the same time this is a fairly basic troubleshooting process and we’d need you to meet us halfway, as the lack of schedule details etc is by no means a common problem – in fact I haven’t seen this before – suggesting it is likely to be a conflict.
Can you create a new WordPress installation, perhaps in a subdirectory, install only our plugins and see how things look at that point? Assuming it’s all good, start adding each plugin and eventually your theme of choice – testing at each stage to see if the problem returns and noting what seems to be causing the problem.
That way we could isolate any conflict without impacting on the live site.

ParticipantHi Barry, I bought the Eventbrite plugin and upgraded to Events Calendar pro. So I’ve bought 2 products and can’t make it work. I wish I could create the new set up, I paid someone to do the original set up for me. I’m an accountant not a techie! I can work with the plugins but I don’t know enough about WP to create a new installation. I would be happy to give you access to my site as an administrator if that would help or does that go beyond the level of support you are able to offer?

MemberI definitely appreciate the position you’re in – at the same time we have to be judicious in the amount of time we spend on each reported issue as we have many users to support. Your site is, ultimately, your site and we would only ever log in and make changes as a last resort – on balance, I don’t really feel it’s necessary here.
There are a number of plugins out there that can help with the process of taking a backup of your site – perhaps you could explore using one of those (so that you can take a ‘snapshot’ of your site and potentially restore it) before running through those basic troubleshooting steps? That way you could easily roll back should any unexpected problems arise.
These basic troubleshooting steps are very much worth running through as they invariably lead to a quick answer as to whether there is a conflict and what might be behind the conflict.

ParticipantHi. I wish i could but that’s beyond my WordPress capabilities! The reality is that I’d have to pay my website lady to do it and this isn’t important enough for me to do that. Could I ask you to arrange a refund please and I’ll find another solution.

MemberThat’s a shame and we’re sorry it hasn’t worked out for you. To request a refund please email the team at pro (at) tri (dot) be and ideally include a link to this thread and also a copy of your receipt.
Thanks – and good luck with your project – I hope you’ll have an occasion to use The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO at some future point even if it hasn’t panned out this time round 🙂
