I was able to get the Events Calendar Pro and Community running.
Thanks for doing a good job – it worked well.

I used to handle events as posts

Would alert users to new event posts. Many have mentioned liking that and wanting to receive the emails. Since moving platforms the subscribers are in the dark.

Is there a hook or function that could alert ‘Subscriptions’ about the posting of a event??

I would suggest that the easiest way to make this happen is by harnessing the power of the built-in RSS feed. Here’s a tutorial on how you can customize it to suit your needs. From there, any of the services that do RSS-to-email should be able to make the subscription a reality for your users.
