ParticipantHi support team,
Thanks for all the support so far!
I previously had a bug with custom recurrence that was resolved here https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/custom-event-frequency-yearly-no-end-date-gives-php-error/#post-1008129I’ve since noticed 2 x more bugs, I’ve created a new thread as I’m unable to add to the existing one.
1. When creating an event with custom rule, no end date, yearly, 1 x month on last Friday, the first entry is correct, all future entries are in the wrong month.
2. When using a custom rule with the following; Custom, end = NEVER, Frequency = YEARLY, Month = one or more months, On the = TICKED, drop downs = FIRST FRIDAY, same as = TICKED and the event is then published. Initially, the event and all future events are correctly published, i.e. on first Friday. However, if the event is edited, for example change of title or main body and the update button clicked, then all future events are no long on the first Friday but on the particular day number of the month that the first event takes place on.
To replicate set up the event as above, publish and check in calendar. Close the tab/browser. Open the calendar again, and edit the event title or body. Click update. Now all future entries are on the wrong day of the week. I happened to notice that when editing and event, the custom rule is not completely shown but missing some of the check boxes. The only way to see them is to select something else in the drop down, e.g. yearly and immediately change back to custom. It is then that you’ll notice the “on the” check box is no longer checked!
Hope that is enough information for you to replicate.
Best regards,
Adam.

MemberHi Adam,
Glad to help you once again 🙂 Thanks for reporting this issues, good catches!
I appreciate the detailed descriptions, Can you also send a screenshot of the recurrence settings for both events? This way I can make sure I’m trying to replicate with the exact same settings.
Also, Which date picker format are you using? You can check for that in WP-Admin > Events > Settings > Display > Datepicker Date Format. If it’s not set to YYYY-MM-DD, Can you change that to be YYYY-MM-DD and re-test thes issues?
Thanks a lot,
Best,

ParticipantHi Nico,
My date picker was set to DD/MM/YYYY so I changed to YYYY/MM/DD as you suggested and to retested. I created a new event on Fri 24th June 2016 @ 7pm with custom yearly recurrence set to last Friday of the month (see Issue 1 screen shot below) with no end date. The initial event on Fri 24th June 2016 was created/displayed correctly however, the recurrence event was created on 19th May 2017 which is one month before it should be and it not the last Friday, it was also one Friday before it should be.
Screen shots are here:
Issue 1 – Last Friday of month recurrence settings
Issue 2 – when creating the event BEFORE it is published
Best regards,
Adam.

MemberHi Adam,
Thanks for following up on this once again, and thanks including the screenshots!
I’m somehow able to reproduce the error you shared. I’m not getting the same exact result but getting other issues and all instances are not created. I’ll make a couple of additional tests before logging this, but I can confirm this a bug for sure!
I’ll be back on this shortly,

MemberHi Adam,
Getting back to you on this:
#1 – With the exact same settings as you show I’m getting the events generated correctly but the recurrence is not saving the ‘On the last Friday’ part of the setting. I’ve already log this bug in our backlog.
#2 – I could reproduce as well, I’m seeing the same as #1, the ‘On the last Friday’ is not saved as well but events are generated properly. Note: to see the custom recurrence settings after saved/update you can toggle the rule visibility: https://cloudup.com/cLke8BQB5OK.
Can you try #1 again? Maybe we are facing the same Bug here and it was it causing the event to be incorrectly created.
Please let me know,
Best,

ParticipantHi Nico,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I am experiencing a bug when toggling the visibility of saved events using the rule visibility: https://cloudup.com/cLke8BQB5OK. On a previously published event, when I toggle the visibility on, it has lost a previous setting “ON THE” is no longer ticked! No if I update the event, instead of the event taking place on e.g. the “First” “Friday” it is now shown on a particular day number of the month, e.g. day 5.
I tried #2 again but this time I set an event @7pm on Last Fri in Oct, Nov, Dec starting 28th Oct 2016 with no end date. This time only 2 x instances were created, 28th Oct 2016 and 20th Oct 2017 – no entries for Nov and Dec. So using different dates/pattern I get different results from last time but still not correct.
Best regards,
Adam.October 8, 2015 at 4:09 pm #1012930Nico
MemberHey Adam,
In fact that’s what seems to be happening here. I’ve already logged that ticket in our backlog and hope we can get a fix for that soon!
Regarding issue #2, Can you check on ‘WP-Admin > Events > Settings > General > Create recurring events in advanced for’ value? -> https://cloudup.com/cVT1YYwAZKt . Maybe that’s preventing the future events being created, try to change that setting to let’s say 48 months, and then update the event to regenerate the series. Does it fix the issue?
Thanks for all the time dedicated to look into this, you rock 🙂
