ParticipantI have had difficulty with uploading the newest version of the Events Calendar & Pro. Previous version was working but one I uploaded Events Calender 3.8.1 and tried to activate it it caused an issue on the website and I wasn’t able to access the backend of our page (http://www.ura-aft.org). I kept getting the error message:
………………Installing Plugin: The Events Calendar 3.8.1
Downloading install package from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/the-events-calendar.3.8.1.zip…
Unpacking the package…
Installing the plugin…
Successfully installed the plugin The Events Calendar 3.8.1.
Activate Plugin | Return to Plugin Installer…………..The above worked but then I got the following message:
…………The page isn’t redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies……………..
One of my office colleagues had to contact tech support at West Host to remove the plugin (and the Pro version) and fix whatever was going on in the backend so that I could access the dashboard again. This happened over several times and only when trying to activate the newest version of Events Calendar. I’m gun-shy about reinstalling Events Calendar and not sure if you have the previous version available so that I can reinstall that one instead; or if others are having the same problem and I should wait for another update before utilizing the plugin. It’s been problematic not having the calendar and for the moment I will need to use a rudimentary calendar option in (type in dates and events on a page) until this is resolved. We just re-purchased the newest Pro in August 2014. Please advise what can be done so that I can utilize your calendar plugin again.November 17, 2014 at 7:46 am #887753Barry
MemberI’m sorry you had such a rough ride with this.
Previous versions are indeed available both here (if you need a copy of a premium plugin) and on wordpress.org (if you need older versions of our core plugin).
It’s really unfortunate you can’t upgrade and I wonder if this relates to our new welcome/splash screen, as a few users did indeed report some redirect problems with this (though it wasn’t a consistent or widespread issue). We’re actually in the final stages of preparing our next release which includes some tweaks that will hopefully address this problem in those installations that are impacted.
With that in mind, it may be best to use 3.8 for the time being and update when our very next release arrives.

MemberHi! It’s been a while so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread. If we can help with anything else, though, please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed. Thanks!
