ParticipantWhen creating custom occurrences for a recurring event which result in more than one recurrence in a given day, the link to a given event isn’t actually a unique identifier for each recurrence.
Given these recurrence rules (http://imgur.com/NcVmR0V), this will result in 2 events per day (one starting at 8am and one starting at 12pm). But when viewing the list of all recurrences for this event, the event links for each of these recurrences will be the same. For example, the events on 11/25 will both link to /event/recurring-event-with-multiple-recurrences-per-day/2015-11-25/
I’m able to reproduce this issue on a clean install of WordPress running the Twenty Fifteen theme and EC + ECP plugins.

Thanks for using our plugins.
Unfortunately, you are running into a bug with events on the same day for recurring events.
I have added this thread to our bug ticket, but I do not have a timeline when this will be resolved and it is not going to be resolved in 4.0, which is our next release.
The only way around this right now is to make two different recurring events to not create this conflict.

Now that the new 4.0 plugins are out, I’m curious… Is this on the list of planned fixes for the next release? Might be too soon to know, but I thought I’d check since this seems like a fairly major bug as far as the recurrence functionality goes.

MemberIt is on our list for the next release.
I cannot say for sure it will be included, but I am hopeful it will be.
Because of your ticket I did bump up the priority so that should help get it in there.

We’ve just release a maintenance release that addresses this issue. Please look for updates to your Events plugin(s) on your site. Thank you for your patience while we worked to address the reported issues. And don’t forget to review the release notes for all the details on version 4.0.3.
While our testing shows that the new release fixes the problem reported here, sites are different and it’s possible that there are edge cases. If you are still seeing the issue after you update your plugins, please post a new thread so we can look into it further.

MemberSince we released a fix for this in 4.0.3 I am going to close this thread.
