GuestHi guys,
I really like your product and I’ll definitely purchase Pro if it will work me. Here’s my dilemma.
I’m an event manager who manages the schedule for thousands of small events every month. With that many events, the CSV import is a must. I ran into an issue while trying to import some events.
Many of my events have the same name, but all have unique locations. On any given day, there are several events with the same name, running back to back. On really busy days, there might be 70 events with the same name starting at the exact same times. The only variable is the address.
Here is an example:
Each example is a series of events occurring back to back where attendees will visit each location in order. Examples 1 & 2 have the exact same name, as do each following event.
Example 1
Same Event Name 123 A St. 02:00 PM 07/17/15
Same Event Name 321 B St. 03:00 PM 07/17/15
Same Event Name 231 C St. 04:00 PM 07/17/15Example 2
Same Event Name 123 X Ave. 02:00 PM 07/17/15
Same Event Name 321 Y Ave. 03:00 PM 07/17/15
Same Event Name 231 Z Ave. 04:00 PM 07/17/15Question #1, is there a solution for the import issue? The only solution I could think of would be to assign a unique number to every event title, but with 5000+ events, that would be a real challenge.
Question #2, is there a way to keep the events grouped together in order to eliminate confusion? Each event would still need a location map.
Question #3, is there a limit to the number of events which can be added to the calendar and/or the week view? We have 4 categories (cites) each of which could have 200 events in a single week. Thanks for your help!

ParticipantHey Travis,
Thanks for even being interested in Events Calendar PRO, and for trying out The Events Calendar itself.
The CSV importer is indeed a bit tricky to work with sometimes, but I’m curious what your exact issues are with it so far? You mention this: “I ran into an issue while trying to import some events.”
Can you specify exactly what is happening when you try to import events, what issues you face etc.?
I’ll come back to Question #1 based on those details, since there could be a bug here or something and I’ll try to reproduce your exact problems with a bit more detail based on your reply.
As for Question #2, the only methods for grouping events at this time are the included taxonomies of “Event Category” and “Tag” – otherwise, there is unfortunately not a specific way of grouping events together as one “collection” of events.
Finally, for now, for Question #3, there is not a limit imposed anywhere in the code, necessarily. However, as with any large amount of data on a website, if you have a ton of events on a page with a server not configured to handle the load, and no caching or anything, then there definitely be performance issues. We admit to and are aware of (and actively working on, quite intensively!) some performance limitations with The Events Calendar – we just haven’t had many users need it to store dozens of thousands of events, so it’s an area we’ve lacked in, admittedly, but we’re working on some pretty clever solutions to vastly improve performance and scalability in coming releases.
I hope my answer for Question #3 isn’t too vague – let me know if it is, or if you have any other followup questions/concerns/etc. here in addition to the details about your CSV Import issue.
Thanks Travis!
