Please pardon the mess. Our clients site is on shopify but they liked your calendar so much that they had me set up wordpress on a subdomain for them just to use it.

Is there ANY way to remove the ‘/events’ from the url structure?

They are not digging the “events.domain.com/events/” urls.
No luck with htaccess/mod_rewrite so far.

The ONLY thing in this WP install will be the calendar, so it’s fine if it breaks other things (aside from the admin panel)

    THANKS!

    Howdy Michael,

Welcome to our support forums and thanks for reaching out to us! We are flattered to hear about this 🙂

This a common request for WordPress custom post types in general (not just for events or something specific to our plugin), the answer is basically this cannot be done without a bit of hacking! I’ve found an interesting article showing a technique to do this: http://kellenmace.com/remove-custom-post-type-slug-from-permalinks/

Give that a try and let me know about it,
    Have a great weekend,
    Nico

thanks, i’ll check that out. there are plenty of plugins for removing the slug from /events/%postname% but none of them address or work with the /events “page” itself.

    Thanks for the follow-up Michael!

Maybe The Events Calendar Shortcode works for that – it’s a third party plugin and I personally didn’t tested it, but probably worth a shot. Adding the ability to set the events page as site home page is a logged feature request and it’s schedulled for our next feature release 4.3 coming in August approximately.

Give this a try and let me know about it,
    Best,
    Nico
