ParticipantHi,
I was wondering if it is possible to allow anyone to edit anyone’s event. Here’s what we have happening. The Community Events Plug-in is great for allowing anyone to add an event, our users are doing that far more than they were on the old solution we had.
The users love being able to add an event without having to log in to an account.
We have had some events that need to be cancelled or edited and right now they can’t edit or cancel them because they’re not using accounts (adding events without an account is why we are using the Community Events plug-in)
I am wondering if it is possible to let anyone edit an event on the calendar. Right now, I have to log-in and make the modifications and we want them to be able to do it, but without logging in.
Sorry if this seems like I’m rambling.

MemberGood evening Guadalupe and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We will gladly try to assist you on this topic.I am wondering if it is possible to let anyone edit an event on the calendar ?
The answer is yes, although, combined with anonymous event submission (users not logging in) you will have little control over tracking who did what.
What you will need to do to achieve this is grant the visitor role additional capabilities. To get started, I recommend reading this post.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

ParticipantOkay, it’s installed. Which role do I modify for allowing anyone (without login) to edit any anonymously submitted event?

MemberGood evening Guadalupe,
My bad, I forgot to tell you that by default, there is no visitor role in WordPress.
You will need to create one through the functions.php of your WordPress theme.
This very topic is discussed right here: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/107622/i-need-to-assign-a-role-to-visitors-guestsLet me know how that goes.
Best regards,

Participantso I see where it says to add <?php global $user_login if ( $user_login) { echo ‘user logged in’; } else {echo ‘user not logged in’;] but I’m failing to see where that gets added to the functions.php theme. Enjoy your retreat in Costa Rica!

MemberGood afternoon Guadalupe,
Thank you for the kind words although I am one of the lucky ones who actually did not go to Costa Rica 🙂
I am sorry about the miscommunication. You actually need to read the whole article, down to http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/107622/i-need-to-assign-a-role-to-visitors-guests#214893
As you’ll see, there are ac a couple of ways to accomplish what you are looking to do.
Some free plugins also might help you do what you are looking for including: https://wordpress.org/plugins/nav-menu-roles/ which lets you display a different menu for different user roles including visitors. As you might know, the scope of our support is mostly to get our wonderful customers started on the right track to customize their site and to help them in case of issues. We unfortunately cannot provide complete support for customization 🙁
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,
