Integrating Authors with Events Calendar

Hello – We’re using the calendar to power our “sessions” schedule for an upcoming event.

We have multiple ‘speakers’ which we have entered in as ‘Authors’ into the wordpress system. We’re using a plugin to pull in multiple authors and show them on the session/event.

example here – http://apttus.staging.wpengine.com/accelerate/session/enterprise-contract-lifecycle-management-has-arrived/

The only thing I would like to do is to have the author listing show all the events by that author. Because it’s not a blog post it doesn’t currently show anything by that author
(e.g. http://apttus.staging.wpengine.com/accelerate/author/abartels/ here is all the archives by this author )

Is there some way to have the author archive show all the events/sessions that list that person as an author? Maybe via blog integration or a bit of code or something?

Thanks so much for reaching out! I’d be more than glad to see what I can do to assist here–but first, can you provide any more clarification on what type of functionality you’re wanting for your author pages? It does appear that events are now showing up for author pages as I’m viewing them, so I want to ensure that you haven’t resolved this issue on your own already! Hi Caroline, thanks for getting back to me, we asked our outsource team to take a look at this and it seems like they may have cracked this for us already. Thanks for your time, I think we’re good. Out of curiosity could you tell me how this could be accomplished simply? Despite having it fixed I have no idea how they did it…

Hi Adam,

Thanks for following up–glad to hear that all looks to be resolved on your end! In the future, you can achieve this effect by using a custom template for author.php in your theme’s folder. Simply rewriting the loop to use a custom queue that checks events (custom post type tribe_events) instead of standard blog posts should display the intended result! You can read more about custom author templates on WordPress’s own documentation here.
