Installed Free Version on test site, set up two events, set up list widget and –

the upcoming events appear on the Home page, but when I clidk on the event, I get a 404 page not found error. Can not provide link, this is on a test version of a site, please advise why this is – have tried looking in the forum, see a lot of reports about 404s, but can’t determine why this is happening and how to correct. This is another site where I am going to have to upgrade to pro version for various reasons, but now have this problem, so don’t know how to proceed?
