When I try to install the Events Calendar plugin, i get this error message:

The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

HostGator is our hosting company; I’m using the Avada WordPress theme.

https://www.godaddy.com/help/increasing-user-file-upload-limits-using-phpini-on-your-linux-server-1409 might be the help you need. You’ll want to reach out to GoDaddy’s support about this. Unfortunately, this sounds like a server issue.
