Insert hyperlink on image to point to the next upcoming event

I have images on the carousel of my homepage. I would like to insert hyperlinks to my respective images to point to the next upcoming event on the calendar.
Currently I put, “http://”Mywebsitename”/event/”eventname”/”date of the next upcoming event”/
The problem is when the event is over it maintains the last event date so the header will read, “This event has already passed”.
If only put the link: “http://”Mywebsitename”/event/”eventname”/
it adds “all” to the end of the address, which gives the user a list of all the event. I just want user to see details of the event.
I hope my request makes sense.

If you mean the plugin automatically points to the latest event then i suppose i am trying to automate the process.

There’s unfortunately no way to have this happen automatically like you describe. You can add the specific date of the event like you describe, though yes, when the event is passed it remain stuck on the “passed” event. Or you can link to the /all/ URL, but this shows all events, not just upcoming ones…

…this is a limitation that unfortunately has no workaround at this time. I am sorry to bear that news!
