I read in another thread here that Event Aggregator is supposed to be able to import events from even closed groups, but it doesn’t seem that I am able to get it to pull events from closed or public groups that I am a part of (which is the reason that I bought the plugin). I can pull individual events if I copy and paste them one at a time, but it doesn’t seem to recognize events from the groups. It comes up showing 0 on all of them.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/971010366299622/Hello Kennon,
Thanks for using our plugins and welcome to the forums!
I’m sorry about these issues. Let me try to help you with this.
I found that this is a closed group I’m not part of. I didn’t see events for it like that, so couldn’t import it.
The url didn’t work like that. However, when I looked up the Facebook ID of the group (here) and entered it like
http://www.facebook.com/groups/252776594867436it did seem to work. This page doesn’t seem to exist.
The one event on this page comes from a different, closed group. I guess that is why I see anything in the preview.
I’m not part of that group yet.
The event might be too far in the future. Please check your import limit settings under Events > Settings > Import tab.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/615270368485753/
and
Doesn’t have any future events.
Please check the above and let me know how I can help you further.
Cheers,
AndrasOk, when I changed the name out to the ID number for the Tasmanian group, it did work importing events there.
The main group that I’m really wanting to make sure that I’m able to import from is : https://www.facebook.com/groups/agot2ndedition/. This is a closed group, but I am in the group, and from reading other information on the site, it appears that I should be able to import from a closed group. Do I have to be an admin of the group? I don’t know what else may be preventing it.
Various other groups are difficult to verify at the moment it seems, due to lack of upcoming events.
Also, just thought it would be useful to have an image of the upcoming events in the main group that I’m trying to get to import. I’m hoping that if we get this one sorted out that I can get others to work from there.
Hi Kennon,
I checked that group for you and I found the following challenges:
- The events that are visible in that groups calendar are events created by other entities. So basically none of those events is owned by ‘AGOT 2nd Edititon’.
- The first event there (GoT tournament) is a recurring one. At the moment we don’t support importing recurring events, in case you want to import that event specifically (https://www.facebook.com/events/1977647719173564/)
- If you want to import it from the organizers event page (https://www.facebook.com/pg/JohnnyCeeCards/events/) it will not show up, likely because the first instance of the event series is in the past.
I believe these are done like that intentionally. I will check that with the team nonetheless.
from reading other information on the site, it appears that I should be able to import from a closed group.
Can you share with me some reference to this? I would just like to double check that we are not promising something that is not possible.
Thanks,
AndrasHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
