ParticipantI purchased Event Aggregator but when I select to import via ics file I don’t see the schedule import option. How can I see this option.
Also, my events are not showing the correct times from the import. The ics file does not specify a timezone and I would like the events to display as the sites timezone with the time specified on the ics file.
Thanks… Mike

ParticipantI got around the schedule issue by using an import type of Google Calendar or iCalendar – my timezone problem continues though.
My server and PHP timezone is set to Los Angeles, my WordPress timezone is set to Los Angeles, my timezone setting in the plugin is set to “use the sitewide timezone everywhere”, and my ics feed (https://api.veracross.com/cate/v2/events.ics?event_types=114,115,116,24,112) doesn’t set any timezone. Yet the events are still showing up with times adjusted to GMT+0. I don’t have control over the ics feed – so how do I get the plug-in to import the events with the time specified on the events in the ics feed which are correct for Los Angeles?
Let me know.
Thanks…
Mike

KeymasterHello Michael,
Thanks for using our plugins and welcome to the forums!
I’m sorry you are having this timezone issue when importing events. I have checked and tested the feed you provided.
It looks like just as you said: the feed is not providing any porper timezone. So what happens is, it takes the timezone of your site and uses that with the date/time given in the file itself.
I was testing different scenarios with settings but unfortunately I wasn’t able to figure out any workaround for this. You will need either need to manually adjust all the events time/date, or change somehow the ics feed/file. You can do this if you download the file, but then you would need to do a manual import every time. Or you could try to get in touch with the providers of the feed to check how the timezone is added to their feed. Currently I see this in the feed, and I’m not sure how that defines the timezone:
PRODID;X-RICAL-TZSOURCE=TZINFO:-//com.denhaven2/NONSGML ri_cal gem//ENI’m sorry I cannot give you better news for this. But adding some timezone support for importing .ics is on our roadmap. At the moment I cannot say when it will be implemented though.
I hope this at least gives you some answers, even if it doesn’t provide a solution.
Let me know if I can be of any more help.
Cheers,

ParticipantHi Andras:
Thanks for getting back to me. It is my understanding that by the feed specifying a “Z” at the end of the DATE-TIME – i.e.:
DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20170605T172500Z
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20170605T171000ZThe “Z” indicates the time is in UTC format. You’ll notice if for example you add this to your Google calendar by going to “Other calendars” –> “Add by URL” – Google will display the event in the timezone of your calendar. I thought by importing this feed into your plug-in with the “Events” –> “Settings” –> “Timezone Settings” –> “Timezone Mode” set to “use the sitewide timezone everywhere” the plug-in would display the events in the timezone of the WordPress site. Is this something you will support?
Let me know.
Thanks!
Mike

KeymasterHey Mike,
Great question. I’m not that technical myself, so please give me some time until I get some information from the dev team. Hang in there.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Andras:
Any update on when this fix will be implemented? We would love to start using your plugin on our website as soon as possible – but obviously can’t until the event times are displayed in the correct timezone.
Let me know.
Thanks!
Mike

KeymasterHi Mike,
I checked with the dev team and while it will not make it into the next maintenance release (in 1-2 weeks) but most probably it will be in the one coming after that. We will know more after the next MR.

MemberHi there!
Just wanted to share with you that there’s been an update to our Event Aggregator service which includes a fix for this issue.
There’s no need to update any plugins to make this work, as it works from our side. Just use the Event Aggregator service as you’d normally do.
Please let us know if the fix works for your site.
Best,
VictorMay 25, 2017 at 9:21 am #1288901Michael
