I may be missing something but I am unable to import the following feed on a recurring basis: https://nwcog.ccbchurch.com/w_calendar_sub.ics
It gives an error every time saying unable to retrieve content from url.

Thanks for clearly describing the problem and sharing a link. I would love to help you with this.
This can be a bit problematic to diagnose. That file you shared does generate error whenrun through an ICS validator, meaning it’s not a completely valid iCal file. But I am not convinced that’s the issueas I seem to be able to import that as a one-time import.
Can you import other feeds? What happens if you drop HTTPS and go with the HTTP file? Like this:
http://nwcog.ccbchurch.com/w_calendar_sub.ics
A lot of servers can’t import HTTPS. Does that work?

Just to clarify it’s not a fully valid iCal file, it does generate errors. But, I was able to import it successfully on my site with HTTP in spite of the errors.
You said that you can not import this as a recurring import, but can you import it on a one-time basis? Can you import other iCal files?

I cannot import my iCal feed as a one-time import regardless of it being http or https. I can however add it to my Google calendar using the add by url option and it works great.
I can add other iCal feeds, from Google Cal, to the events module plugin and it seems to import it successfully.

Let’s recap here. We know the file can be downloaded and imported by the calendar, as I have done that. We know that your server can download an import iCals, as it can do it from servers other than this one such as Google’s. Thus it seems likely that there is something specific about communicating with that server that is giving you trouble. Have you tried downloading the iCal file to your computer, and uploading it to the importer as an .ics file?
Cheers!

January 18, 2016 at 12:33 pm #1058059TimothyParticipantHi Brook,
I apologize for the delay…I have figured why I am getting en error with my feed. My new site is not yet public and is hosted on my local computer and that is causing the error. I was able to successfully get the feed to work when I installed the plugin on my current site which is live. Thanks for your help and sorry for the error on my part!
On another note…do I need to have the events calendar pro in order for the the .ics feed to work with recurring events?

You do not need Events Calendar Pro to import iCal files with recurring events. Any .ics recurring events are converted to a bunch of single events when imported via iCal, thus making them work with and without Pro.
I am stoked the error is gone. Since you marked this resolved I am going to archive the topic. Let us know if you ever need anything else. Cheers!
