My community, uploading events to the events calendar, are mothers, having no clue, how to prepare a image for the upload. They upload everything, in any size. How can I handle this? I would like to limit the size of the front end upload from community event.

Your best bet would be to use a third-party plugin for that purpose.
There are a few of them out there (both free and premium ones), so you will need to investigate.
