    Hi,

Just wondering why I can do a recurring feed import with iCal and not with ICS?

How to force the recurring import with ICS too?

    Thanks

    Hi there Antoine,

Thanks for reaching out on this, I’ll try to clarify this for you.

‘Recurring imports’ import new events that are added to a calendar (ics feed). That’s not possible in the case of the ‘file import’ as once it’s uploaded to the site, it’s not modified.

Can you elaborate a bit on why you are needing this? Maybe there’s another way of doing so.

Please let me know if this makes sense to you,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hi,

Thanks, well we have an online calendar (Outlook Exchange) and it is published online via an URL pointing to this ICS file.

What we would like to do is having the information the calendar in the website and Outlook synced. But it doesn’t seem to have an option to import the ICS file every 30min (like for iCal).

Hope this clarify, let me know if you need more information.

    Hi Antoine,

Thanks for following up on this! While I’m not familiar with how Outlook Exchange works, but if there’s a URL for that file then you could import that URL as feed not as a file (the feed is really an ics file generated on the fly). Have you tried doing so? In that case you will be allowed to generate the recurring import.

Please let me know if you can manage to do so,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hi Nico,

Yes I did tried and I got issue when I select ICS file, the IMPORT TYPE auto changed to ONE-TIME IMPORT, please look at my screenshot on the first message of this ticket:

    http://i.imgsafe.org/030a258.png

When I select iCal feed, then I got error message as the URL is incorrect(but it is otherwise i would not be able to download the file, maybe because there is an @ character in the string?

    Hi Antoine,

Thanks for following up once again on this!

The import type needs to be set to ‘iCal feed’ in fact, but not sure why the URL returns a not valid message. Can you share it with me?

    Thanks,
    Nico

    Hi Nico,

The problem came as I thought from the @ symbil in the URL (which is quite common for a calendar feed), therefore I manually changed “@” to be “%40” and everything worked fine.

Not sure if you want to add this sanitary check when an URL is entered in the plugin, but still good to know.

    Thanks for your support!

    Hey Antoine,

Glad to hear this is solved! And yes, you are right this seems to be something worth ticketing.

Do you mind sharing the URL to the feed in a private reply so I can attach it to the ticket as a ‘real user case’ sample ?

Please let me know if that is possible, if not don’t worry ๐Ÿ™‚
