ParticipantHi,
I purchased the iCal Importer several months ago, it worked fine.
Some weeks ago I moved the website from which I got the events to another URL, I changed this URL in the Altsystem Importer settings on the website where I import the events, but nothing works. The URL that I use for the events works fine, beacuse when I paste it in the address bar I get an .ics-file with my events.
I could post this URL in a private reply if needed. Is there a general problem with the iCal Importer?
Many thanks in advance!

MemberHi, Christopher.
iCal Importer has been replaced by Event Aggregator, which is why a license for that was added to your account at the time you purchased iCal Importer (during its transition/phase-out period).
If you share your specific links (and maybe even an annotated screenshot or video screen capture), it might help communicate what you’re seeing and what exactly the issue is so I can better understand the issue and how I might be able to help.
Thank you.

ParticipantHi Cliff,
Thank you very much, I didn’t know that a license for Event Aggregator was included in our plan.
Before purchasing iCal Importer it was said that you could get a license for the iCal Importer that expires after one year, but after this period you can still use the Importer, just without support und updates. On the other hand you must rebuy the license for the Event Aggregator every year, without a license the Aggregator doesn’t work at all.
As I didn’t want to rebuy a license every time it expires this is quite unsatisfying.
Best regards

MemberSorry for that confusion.
iCal Importer runs entirely on your server. Event Aggregator (EA) is more of a service in that it does the heavy lifting on our servers, which is why it requires an active license at all times.
iCal Importer won’t be getting any new updates so you essentially have the code that you could run forever on your site. However, if you experience a bug with it, we won’t be able to provide support for it.
EA imports more than just iCal files. It can also import Facebook, Meetup, and will continue improving over time.
I hope this clears things up for you.
Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions on this topic.

ParticipantHi,
I actually got this point, but I’m confused why the iCal Importer did work all the time and without any changes at some point didn’t work any more.
As we only need to import iCal feeds (in fact we just want to import events that are generated with the Events Calendar plugin from one website to another) the Event Aggregator is way too much because we have to buy a license every year, what is too expensive for us.
To summarize we don’t get any support with the iCal Importer problem, but therefore have to use the Event Aggregator and rebuy a license when the current one will be expired?

MemberI understand. Thanks for explaining.
We have this existing feature request: https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/16852576-let-users-import-events-from-other-ecp-installs-vi
My understanding is that it will be released as part of EA sometime this year. Hopefully that does a great service for you eventually.
