iCal Importer not importing Recurring events from Google Calendar

Hello,

Our setup is to have the client create all their events on Google Calendar and have iCal Importer pull from it every day to keep their website calendar updated.

While we were able to pull in most events, we noticed some (maybe all) of the recurring events are NOT coming thru (it’s like iCal Importer doesn’t see them at all).

Is there something we did wrong or a setting I may have missed? Please help.

We have purchased the Pro version and iCal Importer.

To clarify, when importing from an ICS file, recurring events are getting completely ignored? Their not even created a first instance of the event without the recurrence?

Would you be able to link me to the file so I could do some tests locally on the existing file?

Hi Josh, here’s what I experienced:

When importing from private iCal link (link generated from Google Calendar), the recurring events are not imported at all (the initial event and all subsequent events), it’s like the plugin does not see them there at all (I would say it did not detect those events)

When importing via ICS file (same calendar as above), the plugin DO detect the recurring events and I am able to importing them. However, they plugin refuses to import ALL events it found (around 350 in total) and I ended up having to import them in batches manually.

As I have told the client they can upkeep their calendar from the Google Calendar end, I am now in desperate need to have this sorted out (why the import is not detecting recurring events) asap.

This same issue is occurring on my site. iCal events importer doesn’t grab the recurring events from google calendar (via private iCal link).

Doing a one-time import from .ics file isn’t practical because it will only successfully add a very small batch of events at a time. I have close to 2,000 events to import. Any resolution?

I’ve done some tests and was able to replicate the issue you’re describing with the .ics file. It looks like there may be a type within the calendar that isn’t recognized and is causing the entire import to fail (when doing in bulk). I’ve logged the issue in our system and you’ll be notified here as we make progress.

In the meantime, there was an existing bug associated with Google Calendar and recurring events that should be addressed in the next release. This should resolve the issue with the automatic imports from the feed.
