Can anyone else confirm if having the iCal importer plugin activated with PHP7 causes their wp-admin pages to take 30+ seconds to render?

I’m not seeing any SQL query issues, it’s just related to this plugin and PHP7 and the admin interface.

Good evening Max and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Sorry about the slight delay in answering and even sorrier about
I would love to help you with this topic.

This is certainly quite a performance drop. To say the least, this is very unexpected. We apologize for the inconvenience.
I will relay this to be tested out thoroughly and get back to you.

In the meantime, I am noticing that the Query Cache Type is set to OFF for the database under PHP 7 on your install.
If you are up for it, I would recommend turning it on to see if that helps.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

Set the query_cache_type to 1, turned it on, but still a no go.

I’m seeing my php-fpm RAM usage double during the entire 30 second page render. Must be my dev environment. Working fine in MAMP with PHP7. So, this must be related to how I’m running my Laravel Valet setup and homebrew PHP7…

Thanks for looking into the issue. Setting as resolved since this seems to be so marginal…

    Good evening Max,

Thank you for running that test.

As promised though I am still having some tests ran on this.
I will report my findings shortly.

Hang in there and thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Good evening Max,

So I asked for a bunch of tests as promised using PHP 7.0.10.

Admin pages all load at 1.9 seconds +/- .06 with iCal active.
They all load at about 1.85 with the same variance with iCal disabled.

So the good news is that your hunch was right.
It does not look like this is a “universal” PHP7 issue.

That being said, if anything else comes up, please hit us up!

And of course, you are welcome back on our support forums any time 🙂

For now, I am going to close this thread.

    Have a great weekend!

    Geoff B.
