    Hi,

    Thanks for a great calendar!

I imported my google calendar using ICAL importer, but when I first installed it, it installed all my events two times. Then I figured I’d delete them all, and install them again. Then I emptied the trash. Now when Im trying to import again I get the error message “Your search returned no results. Please adjust your search.” Its like it remembers the events I deleted,, and won’t import them again (or something)

    Please help.

Good evening Line and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing with your Google Calendar imports.
I would love to help you with this topic.

You are 100% right, the plugin does remember you imported the events (even after you delete them). This feature is in place to prevent duplicate event imports believe it or not.

The good news is that you can totally work around that.

There are a couple of ways to do this. But before you do anything, I highly recommend backing up your Database :

    1. By adding the following snippet to your WordPress theme’s functions.php (and removing it once you are done): https://tribe.slack.com/files/nico/F0PMGPVD0/clear_deleted_events.php
    2. Using a revision deleting plugin. Here’s a list of some of them: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=delete+revision
    3. Manually going in the Database and deleting the rebellious entries

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

    Geoff B.

    Thanks for your reply Geoff!

#1. I managed (i think) to paste the snippet, if that means to copy the link, and paste it into functions.php somewhere/anywhere. 🙂
#2. I installed and activated “Better Delete Revision” https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-delete-revision/ (is there anything else I need to do with this extension?)
#3. You lost me completely here, is there a way to explain this to a totally newb? I dont even know where the Database is or what to look for, regarding entries, or what entries is…

    So sorry for not understanding!
    Many thanks

    Hey Line,

No worries, I will gladly guide you through this 🙂

First of all, the most important step is to be able to do a backup of your database in case you need to go back to it.
If you are uncomfortable with this step, you might consider a plugin to do this (e.g.: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-database-backup/)

Option 1 (or a variation of it) would probably be the simplest approach. You need to copy the code in the functions.php of your WordPress theme. You can find that file in /wp-content/themes/[name-of-your-theme]

For more detailed instructions on how to use it, please read the following great post from my colleague Nico:https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/cant-re-import-same-events-from-ical-feed-after-importing-and-deleting-them/

Basically what we are trying to do is to remove

Option 2 If that does not work for you, then I would totally give the delete revisions plugin a shot.

Basically after installing the plugin, you need to run it through your dashboard. More info on that topic here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-delete-revision/screenshots/

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.
