    Hello,

I noticed the problem on our development site and was able to duplicate it on a fresh installation running Event Calendar only!

    URL : http://rescatholicschool.org/testlm/events/2015-11/

On the Google calendar, there is a second event on November 13 and on November 20 which are NOT imported. The events (however) are in the ics file .
They are not an all-day events but an apparently regular event , starting at 8:15am and ending at 9:15am.

Yes, the events have been deleted and re-created in Google and still they can not be imported.

    The installation runs :

    – WordPress 4.2.4
    – Theme by default ( Twenty Fifteen / and Twenty Fourteen – )
    – Events Calendar : 3.11.2
    – iCal importer : 3.11

There is NO other plugins installed.
The ics file can be accessed at : http://ge.tt/8YdVjNM2/v/0?c

    The two missing events are:

    BEGIN:VEVENT
    DTSTART;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20151120T081500
    DTEND;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20151120T091500

    TRANSP:OPAQUE
    END:VEVENT
    BEGIN:VEVENT
    DTSTART;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20151113T081500

    END:VEVENT
    ————————

They are at lines 1119-1148 of the ics file.

Please note that it is the second problem/bug that we encounter with the iCal importer (the other is still unresolved but is less critical than this one) . I am the web developer and have to say that my client (who purchased the plugin ) is getting a bit nervous.

I would appreciate very much if you could look at this problem. As I said, I was able to duplicate on a fresh , up-to-date version of WordPress + Events only (no plugin – no customization – nothing! )

Please let know if you have any question.

    Many thanks,

    Lisianne

Thank you for taking the time to report this Lisianne. I just tried duplicating the issue and found the same result, those two events are missing. I ran the iCal file through a validator and did find some errors, but none regarding those two events so that is a bit strange.

I am going to ask our resident iCal developer to have a look and see if they have any quess as to what it is about those two events that is causing them to not show. Then we can take things from there. Thanks again for the detail report, I will get back to you with the developers thoughts and ideas on how to proceed.

    Cheers!

    Hi Brook,

I am glad to know that you managed to duplicate the problem! It should help figuring out what is happening here.

    Please keep me posted.

I asked my client if she had entered these two events in any “special/different” manner. She said that sometimes she duplicates events in Google and she may have duplicated one of these . But she also mentioned that she has duplicated other events which were imported succesfully so I am afraid this is not even a hint but I wanted to mention it just in case …

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Any news on this problem? I think you were able to duplicate so you should have all you need but if you want me to provide further info, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Lisianne

This is logged for a developer to look at. This takes a little bit of time, as their schedule is not always as open as support folks like myself. Please don’t take the delay to mean we’re not interested in the bug report!

In the mean time, can you manually import those two events?

    Thanks again!

    Hello Brook,

It has been more than a week now that a bug has been reported , along with all the data to duplicate it easily on your side (you did – thank you).

Being able (or not) to create the event manually is not relevant. The purpose of this plugin is to synchronize a Google calendar and The Events calendar automatically and to do it with the minimum of robustness expected from “serious plugins”. So yes, of course, we can manually create the missing event …but this assume that we have detected there is a missing event (we caught this one by chance )

Could we have have a status on this issue please?

    Many Thanks,
    Lisianne

For sure! I would be happy to give you a status update.

Our plugin is on a 6-10 week release cycle. Once a bug is confirmed the soonest it can be fixed is 6 weeks. But, some times it is longer. If you are reaching the last couple weeks of a release cycle we can no longer squeeze any change in, as all changes have already been made and they are under going testing.

In this case our plugin has already neared the end of the release cycle and we can squeeze no further changes in. I will do my best to get it included as soon as possible. But, we do have to prioritize bugs based on how many users they impact, and in thise case this bug is only impacting one user. 🙁 I hope you can understand, compared to bugs that affect thousands or hundreds of thousands of our users it is naturally a lower priority. I will let the devs know there is continued interest in getting this fixed. Perhaps we can identify a way to fix it before bundling the fix with a true update to our plugin in a month or more. I will let you know.

To shorten the above, the bug has not yet been patched and it may be a number of weeks before it will be. But, as soon as a fix is ready for release we will post here and let you know. In the mean time, manually creating those two events is the only known work around.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

    – Brook
