ParticipantIs there a shortcode for this? I would like to add the form to a styled page as it would look much nicer than what the standard form currently looks like.
Website: http://www.clarenceplains.org.au
I have two pages that have the same menu name “REGISTER YOUR EVENT” One is the page that I would like to use and the other is the current page that the plugin creates.

ParticipantHowdy Dermot,
There is basically not a shortcode for this. However, you can fully modify the template in PHP to include any design and content you need. Would that be an option? Our Themer’s Guide dives into detailed on creating these “theme overrides” that allow you to customize the page. Best of all you can manage the content per page. For example your current design would work great on the event submission page, but not apply as much to the “My Events” page where users would view and manage all past submitted. So you could put different verbiage there. Does this sound like a better route for you?
Cheers!

ParticipantHi Brook,
that would be an option if the process was simpler. I don’t know php and I found the Guide difficult to work out. All I want is for the event registration page to look like the other pages on my site and to be able to add content above it explaining what it is that people need to do.

ParticipantHi,
I’ve got the same issue so subscribed to replies from this thread, but won’t add any more comments unless asked to. I need to get my calendar on a page that looks like every other page on my site. I can modify a template file but my PHP knowledge is limited to copy and pasting snippets, etc. If you offered a snippet that would place a banner at the top of the page, as that’s all that’s missing for me, then I could work with that. I don’t think that would help Dermot much. Why don’t you guys use shorcodes for this?
Dermot, I found this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar-shortcode/
but it won’t give you the lovely calendar as the one generated on the /events page. The best I can get it to do is display a static list of events with links to the proper event pages. But maybe that is all you need?

ParticipantHowdy Bartek,
Why don’t you guys use shorcodes for this?
That is a great question. Basically in order to make an archive page embeddable as a shortcode you have to subvert how WordPress is supposed to work. It involves a lot of hacky workarounds that are prone to break and cause issues with other plugins. You can see these sorts of problems with other plugins that do make archives embeddable. It’s not an insurmountable problem, but it is unquestionably subpar from a architecture standpoint.
That said, due to popular demand we are working on shortcodes for these. But again it is a very complicated thing to do and it’s error prone, so we are taking our time trying to do is as “right” as possible. They will likely be ready sometime this year.
Until to do what you guys aim to it requires a little bit of code in those PHP templates.
Please let me know if y’all have any followup questions. Cheers!

ParticipantHi Dermot,
I just realized that in the settings under the Display tab there is an area to add your own html before or after your event content. That solved the problem for me without having to use PHP. I opened up another page that had my header, right clicked it to inspect it (I use use Chrome) and found the DIV element that encompassed my header. Right click and save html then paste it where you want it. This take some playing around if you don’t know what you’re doing but it’s completely within the scope of getting it accidentally right at some point. 🙂 If you have a lot more than just a header then it could be more of a task, but it’s a good place to start. Are you using DIVI theme? Looks like it. I can’t get the header to go full width at the moment.
Hey Brook…how about getting the DIVI builder working on there? Is that possible? That would more than fix my [our?] issues.

ParticipantExcellent news, I am happy that area worked for you.

You should definitely submit that as a feature request: UserVoice (feature suggestion page for The Events Calendar) Divi is one of the more popular themes! But in the interest of full disclosure it is still pretty rare that theme specific feature requests get many votes, and we have to prioritize them based on votes.
