    Hello guys,
you are doing a great job and would like to help you solving this 404 problem. i create lots of recurrent events :http://nutspubcrawl.com/events/category/pub-crawls/

But i have a crazy list of 404 errors on webmaster tool here an example : http://nutspubcrawl.com/events/2018-06-18/

Should i live with it and accepted it as a fact of life ;( ?

    Best,
    Jeremie

    Hi Jamie:

That’s expected for day views containing no events, One thing we do – and you can see this if you view the source – is set a tag instructing search engines not to index these pages:

    <meta name="robots" content="noindex,follow" />

This has been correctly set on the page you referenced. Is it possible then that the information you are getting from webmaster tools is purely diagnostic in nature, rather than suggesting there is a problem that will impact on your search ranking?

If you would prefer day views do not link to other, empty day views – or would prefer day views do not return 404 errors, we’re certainly open to your feedback if you would like to post it on UserVoice: we’d certainly be open to exploring changes for future releases.

    Thanks!

    Hello Barry,
you are right, the page is working but it is still no found by webmaster tool. it says :
    URL Errors :
    Crawl / crawls error
    Soft 404 :2 and Not found : 7,353
is it possible to keep it in Month view and not having those crawling errors ?

You could certainly disable day view and that may help.

Alternatively, this plugin – though not officially supported – may potentially help here, as it prevents day views from returning a 404 status, amongst other things, so it could be worth a shot.

This thread’s not seen much activity for the last couple of weeks so I’ll go ahead and close it. Of course if you still need help with this or any other issue please don’t hesitate to create a new thread (or threads) and one of the team will be only too happy to help. Thanks!
