How to update staging site with events added to live site

I found your article on using the wordpress exporter and importer to migrate events. I used that method to try to update my staging site with events that I have posted to my live site. The WordPress importer duplicated all the existing events, doubling my event listings.

Can you suggest a better way to sync events. I host my site at WPEngine and I know I can select what tables to deploy. But since the Events calendar uses custom post types, will I be able to exclude only events from deploying.

Do you have any advice?

Hi. WP Engine clones Production to Staging so all your events should come over to Staging when you do that.

The WordPress XML exporter does not have a “date range” filter so anytime you would use it to export Events, it would export all of them.

If you really want to do things this way, you could delete all of your Staging site’s Events (then empty trash) and then import the latest XML export file.
