I have a website for a festival that occurred last month: http://buskersintheburg.org

All of the calendars — the default feed and a few custom feeds — are no longer showing the past events. I want to show these events until the next year.

I created the custom feeds using shortcodes from The Events Calendar Shortcode, which recommends using the Past or Month shortcodes to achieve this. But when add either of these to a custom feed, none of the events from last month appear.

Also, the Shortcode Plugin is great for creating custom feeds, but I’m not sure how I can make such changes to the default feed, which on this site is found at: http://buskersintheburg.org/schedule/

Thanks for any insights you can provide to this problem.

    Hi Lee.

From your system information, I believe you’re asking about https://eventcalendarnewsletter.com/the-events-calendar-shortcode/, which is not our plugin.

If your ultimate goal is to display events from today through the end of 2016 (2.5 months), your List View or Photo View should work pretty well for this, but we do not have a way to specifically display a date range of events.

I feel I may be missing some of what you’re wanting. Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions on this topic.

    Cliff,

Thanks for getting back to me. What I would like is for Events Calendar to show past events until the next year when the festival schedule is updated.

Festival events are like this — past events are used to showcase the event into the future until the new schedule is put together three or four months before the new event.

Are you telling me there is no way to do this in The Events Calendar? That seems crazy that I cannot do this.

    Lee, thanks for the details.

The subject of your thread seems to imply all the events you want displayed are in a single month, in which case you could do a URL like this for March 2016: http://wpshindig.com/events/2016-03/

    If that’s not sufficient…

On List View, our Tribe Bar has a “Date From” field so you can set a start date but not an end date. Example: http://wpshindig.com/events/list/?tribe-bar-date=2016-11-01

However, you could add an “End Date” or “Date To” field to the Tribe Bar, for which you could reference https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/understanding-the-tribe-events-bar/ and do some custom coding to implement it as desired.

Please let me know what you’re thinking about this.

    Hi Cliff,

Sorry it’s taken me a while to respond. I tried your first suggestion of the year-month URL, but it does not work in my case:

    http://buskersintheburg.org/schedule/2016-09/

(I had renamed the slug “events” to “schedule” in Settings). I tried other variations and the default “events,” but they did not work either.

However, your suggestion to use tribe-bar-date did work, and across all modes, not just List. And it worked using “schedule” instead of “events.” I wonder why it works for this and not for just year-month?

    http://buskersintheburg.org/schedule/photo/?tribe-bar-date=2016-09-01

This is a problem from an SEO standpoint, however, as I’ll have to redirect plan “schedule” to this bar-date URL.

http://buskersintheburg.org/schedule/2016-09-01/ (see I added the -01) would take you to the Day View (if you had that enabled). Just an FYI in case that is what you’d want.

tribe-bar-date needs to be a day (year-month-day) because it’s being interpreted as “events from this date and going forward”

Please let me know if you think there’s anything else I can help with here.
