I was able to glean how to make this adjustment on the list page from this thread: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/remove-end-date-if-same-as-start-date/#post-46651

However I couldn’t figure out where/how to place the code in single.php to have the same conditionals work for the single view. I’m not fluent with PHP but can copy and paste as directed (thanks in advance).

    Hi Robin,
Thanks for you message and for getting in contact with us.

Just a couple of things to confirm first. Would it be possible to give us a specific example of what you are trying to achieve with a link, screenshots or pastebin? Using some of these methods will help me isolate exactly what you are trying to do and I’ll be able to point you in the right direction.

    Hi Neill,
I don’t know how to post screenshots here or access pastebin, so I hope this is just as clear.
In the current event “Listings” page, I was able to get event date and times to show up this way when the start date and end date are the same:

    Date: July 11, 2013
    Time: 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

I’d like to be able to show the date and times in the same format for an event in the single event page. Right now it looks like this:

    Start: July 11, 2013 7:00 pm
    End: July 11, 2013 8:30 pm

Occasionally I have multi-day events so I’d like to be able to retain the option to show the start date and end date separately, but most events take place on one day and this format is a bit too clunky.

    Thanks for your help,

    Robin

    Hi Robin,

I’m very sorry for the delay in getting back to you about this issue. We have had a busy couple of days with the release and then limited support over the holiday weekend in the US. We are now back to our usual service of responding within a 24 hour window.

With the extra info you gave me I was able to pinpoint exactly what you are tying to achieve. This has been a request from a few users and as such we have asked one of the developers to take a look at this with us. We may be able to point you in the right direction and provide you with an answer that ticks all your boxes. If you can bare with us a little longer we’ll get back to you ASAP.

    Thanks for your patience Robin,
    Sincerely
    Neill

    Hi Robin,

My apologies for the wait. Both our support team and developers are inundated with requests right now as we work to get our users moved from 2.x to 3.0 and continue to work on maintenance releases. We are hoping to get you a solution, but any time a support request involves the developers it can take longer than usual. I appreciate your patience and support.

    Best,
    Leah

    Hi Robin,

Please let me offer my apologies for your wait as well, and thank you so much for your patience so far. In order to give you the best possible answer to your solutions, I need to bring this up to one of our lead developers so that I know exactly how we are going to guide you, and other users, in customizing event meta. Unfortunately, this means I will have to wait until Monday to get back to you with a real tangible solution, however, I will do my best to offer help as soon as I have some to give.

    Cheers,
    Kyle

    Hello Robin,
I apologize that we have not been able to put together a response to your specific question sooner. I have taken your requirements and put together a sample gist that should get you close to what you’re looking for display wise of the start/end date time format on single event. You can view the gist at https://gist.github.com/codearachnid/6015666. Please let us know if this helps solve your issue with the display.

    Hi Robin,

I just wanted to check if you are all set here? I’m going to go ahead and close out the thread if so. But feel free to open another thread with any other issues you might be having.

    Thanks!
