How to merge agenda info from other sites

Hello, tri.be staff,

I am the webmaster of http://www.HackAgenda.com.br, but I’d like to add info from http://raulhc.cc/Agenda and other Hackerspace agendas (like https://garoa.net.br/wiki/Categoria:Eventos, for example), they told me that it is a Wiki that can generate JSON, or a RSS Feed, if I choose to use that.

Is it possible to automatize and automatically add events to The Events Calendar as soon as somebody adds it to those Wiki pages?

I know that you need to create a user to add events on tri.be agenda, but I could add an user to make this stuff possible. They told me they are willing to help me code what is needed to automatize the proccess.

Great question 🙂

There are no built-in capabilities to assist with this, I’m afraid: the closest suitable functionality is our CSV import tool which is really designed for manual imports rather than an automated process like you are describing – and so to drive this one forward I think you’d need to consider building out your own custom solution.

You could definitely peruse tri.be/support/documentation but do be aware the information there largely relates to the old 2.0.x codebase – so, while it might provide you with some ideas, not all of it remains relevant.

We don’t have any specific resources to guide you through something like this, but between our technical docs, tutorials and themer’s guide you can certainly build a sense of how the system works as a whole.

Other than that, this would really be a task where you most likely would need to spend some time in the code to really get to grips with things.

I don’t think there’s much else we can help with on this occasion and will close the thread – but if we can help with anything else/any more specific issues that crop up along the way please do feel free to open a new thread and we’ll be happy to help if we can 🙂
