ParticipantHello,
So here is our events listing page: http://bit.ly/1GvfAGS
As you know obviously, there is no “Edit Page” option when logged in as admin, as there would be for a usual page.
We would like to make it possible, because we want to take advantage of some features from our website.
For example:
– we want to utilize Visual Composer to display featured events (that we make into blog articles on the website)
– Our theme allows us to create multiple sidebars for the website, and we want to create a separate one for just events. We tried creating a new page with shortcodes but the layout was much different.
Can you tell us the best way to set this up?
Thanks

ParticipantHey Mike,
The /events/ is auto-generated by The Events Calendar as, technically, an API endpoint. So, in reality, it works more like a “feed” than an outright “page”. But we try to make it accommodate page-like editing and theme-specific style and sidebar rules and such.
When it comes to Visual Composer, I unfortunately do not know how to incorporate that with The Events Calendar; it may not be possible at this time.
But to try and get theme sidebars showing fine (and this might also help with the Visual Composer problems – not sure, but it might), you should head to your wp-admin and then to Events > Settings > Display. Once on this tab, there’s an “Event template” option there, as shown in this screenshot:

Try out all of the different options there, and see if any of them work better for your needs than the other.
I hope this information helps!

ParticipantHi there,
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to resolve it with that. Is there a shortcode that I can use that will make the layout look like it is here: http://bit.ly/1GvfAGS (Where the event has an image, time description etc…?
I found a shortcode and tested it on one of our other pages but the layout is different.
Have a look: http://bit.ly/victoriabuzzevents
Thanks for the help

ParticipantUnfortunately getting the events in your second link to look like the layout in the first link would take custom coding 🙁 There’s not a simple options configuration you can make to achieve that at this time.
I’m sorry about that! If you’re interested in hiring a customizer to help you make things look like you want, we have a list of highly-reviewed customizers here → http://m.tri.be/18k1
Let me know if I can help with anything else!

ParticipantOkay thank you! I am going to look at having a programmer make the pages static so they’re editable.
One quick question… is there a way to make uploading an image for the event mandatory?

ParticipantHey Mike,
Making the image mandatory at this time is not possible, unfortunately – our “defaults” and “requirements” system for Community Events changed a bit in recent releases and we are working hard on improving these details 🙁
I’m really sorry to disappoint!
