This website is incredible, however I have no idea on where to start….
I love how they created this grid, added category tags (which are color coded!!!), and background images..But how did they pull this off? Anyone have an idea. It seems like it is automated and there isn’t someone manually creating each event in such a pretty way.April 25, 2016 at 2:26 pm #1106809George
ParticipantHey Michael,
Looks like they’re using “Featured images” creatively and using a well-made theme.
I would recommend reaching out to them for more insight on their process. And definitely check out a [free!] tool like Firebug if you use FireFox, or the Developer Tools for either Safari or Chrome. They have “Inspector” tools that let you zoom right over the element on a web page that you want to learn more about—so you can see what CSS and JavaScript is making an element look and behave the way it looks and behaves, essentially.
I hope my advice above helps, and, in closing, if you’re interested in hiring a professional to help you make your site look like that site or similar, we have a list of great developers here → http://m.tri.be/18k1 (and have no affiliation with any of these folks—they’re simply some well-respected names in the community that we’ve compiled to share in situations like this one).
Best of luck with your site!

I found this link on your Github page, perhaps I could use this so that the category appears on my calendar, so then I could alter the css and make it look like a badge that Northpointe uses. I am unsure of where I should put this code though? Somewhere in my plugins folder I assume?

ParticipantHey Michael,
You can definitely modify your site CSS, and HTML, JavaScript, PHP, anything you’d like!
To modify CSS, head to the bottom of your theme’s style.css file and tinker away.
If you need help writing that CSS, then unfortunately your best options are to research how to do so online, or to hire a professional to help you write all of the custom coding.
I will close this thread for now, since we cannot help with customizations nor with site design. Please read this page to learn more about the types of questions we can field for customer support → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/what-support-is-provided-for-license-holders.
If you have other support questions, open a new thread any time.
Best of luck with your design and customizing!
Sincerely,
George -
