How to display events (photo view + ajax) as a part of the front page

Hello!

What’s the way to display the calendar as a part of another template ( for example front-page.php)?

I’m planning the front page which displays:
– Header (Logo + Navigation)
– A slideshow
– Upcomming events ( 8 events with next/prev links powered by ajax)
– Another slideshow
– Passed events ( 8 events with next/prev links powered by ajax)
– Footer

Is it even possible to create such template with working next/prev links loading events per ajax for different parts?

Hi Andreas,

This isn’t possible “out of the box”, I’m afraid, but there are some options if you are open to the prospect of a creative solution and a little customization work 🙂

First is that you can use our widgets to embed event information, complete with functional ajax-based navigation, in any sidebar area (or even outside of a sidebar – see this Codex entry). In their default configuration they may not include all of the information you seek to display – but remember that, like any other event view, the output of our widgets is fully customizable!

There are also third party plugins (not supported here) which may help, like this one which has an option to make your main events page appear on the front page of your blog. This effectively flips the problem on its head – instead of worrying about injecting the event view you would need to add all the other stuff – blog posts, etc – back in.

That may or may not work for you but, again, it’s an option you can explore here 🙂
