How to add image as featured image to an event

Hi there,

when I add an event through the community plugin, I am able to upload an image to be shown with the event. This image will also show in the calendar overview.

When I add an event through wp-admin, I can’t add an image as a featured image. I can only add images in the body. The image in the body doesn’t show in the calendar.

Also for events added through the community plugin, I can only see the uploaded image when I follow the link in the email if I want to see it before I publish it. When I look through the draft events in WP-admin, I won’t see the image.

Am I missing something here?

Hi Arvid,

In the WP-admin, the featured image option appears by default under Event Options and Event Categories on the right (http://d.pr/i/V5Ok). Double check on your Screen Options (button in the far upper right corner of the dashboard) that you have the Featured Image area visible (http://d.pr/i/jaV4).

It seems to me that the invisible Feature Image adder is the root of both issues you listed. Double check that and if that isn’t the issue let me know and we’ll start some deeper troubleshooting.

Hey Leah I have the same problem. When I look at the screen options when adding an “Event” “Featured Image” isn’t listed as an option. If I go and look at screen options when adding a new “Post,” “Featured Image” is an option.???

Thanks Leah. It sometimes appears and sometimes disappears. As we will be moving servers and WP install, I guess it is related to that and it will be solved. Good to know that indeed it is an option 🙂

Arvid- sounds like you’re all sorted then? Just let us know if you need more help, or feel free to start another thread.

Brandon- the screen options can be different for posts and events. Check out my suggestion in the post above yours. It may be that you have the featured image box visible on Add New Post but not on Add New Event.

Featured Image is not even an option to make visible when on the Add New Event screen.

Brandon, are you using the most recent versions of WordPress (3.4.2), The Events Calendar (2.0.9) and The Events Calendar Pro (2.0.9)?

Hi Brandon,

It’s very strange that it would be an options on posts but not events (which are custom post types). It would be great if you could get in touch with Pagelines and see if they can shed some light on the issue. There is a small chance that the theme does not support featured images in custom post types, or is otherwise blocking the function of the plugin. I’d be interested to hear their thoughts on the matter.
