How to add event widget to homepage?

I get that there are no short codes, but could someone point me to the procedure for how to add an events widget like the blog sidebar one (http://rockydirico.com/news/) to the homepage (http://rockydirico.com/)? Many thanks.

If your theme supports widgets on the homepage, you can just add the widget using the normal WordPress widget manager. Else, you’ll need to get a plugin that allows you to display widgets on pages to do so
