How hide an event without using wordpress private?

How can we do an event private without using wordpress private option?
When an event is private, in categories the counter is zero.
And we can not color private categories…
Any help?

So you want these events only to be visible to the author plus any users with editor/admin accounts?

One approach could be to add conditional code to your templates, perhaps set up a Private additional field – check against it and only allow it to be displayed at template level if the current user matches that criteria.

Or, you could even handle this at query level if you fancy a perhaps more challenging but more complete approach.
