How do I work the archiving process?

The website developer has set the calendar to send its listings to archive at the end of July. How can I change this? Is there a way to add new events while still allowing the old events to be visible until archived?

We have a “Clean up recurring events after” setting but not something like archive events at the end of July. Therefore, I’m curious if there’s some custom code implemented to achieve this?
