ParticipantI searched around a bit but I seem to be coming up short. I have inserted code to prevent my events from showing up on a search within my website, but Google is placing my events directly on searches for my company. Please see the attached image for reference. I need to prevent google and other search engines from specifically displaying these events (My company has 5-10 events daily, and I’d prefer users go through the site to get the necessary information). Is this something that can be solved with a robots.txt file?
Thanks for any assistance!

ModeratorHey Mike,
Welcome back! I hope you had a great holiday season. The best route in this scenario is to install a plugin such as Yoast SEO. Doing so will allow you to restrict specific content from displaying in Google’s search results.
Let me know how it goes and take care!

ParticipantI’ve tried working with Yoast but the events still seem to be indexing. I also tried disallowing /event/ and /events/ in a robots.txt file. Please see the 2 images which show I set the events to noindex in WordPress SEO. *Note: I’ve changed the name Events to “Courses” on my site. Is there something else I’m missing?
Thanks,

ModeratorHey Mike,
As far as I know, that should work. Have you resubmitted an updated sitemap via Google Webmaster? If not, this is an important step. Please note it may take some time for Google to update what it displays. What has your research showed you so far about hiding/removing specific post types from appearing in Google’s search results?
Please keep me updated and have a good evening. Cheers!

ParticipantI went into WordPress SEOs sitemap and ensured everything was correct, then cleared my cache. I’ll report back with my findings. Thanks!
