    Hi there.

After a day wasted trying to hack workarounds for this, I decided to post to your forum for some last-ditch help.

I can see this has been a request from your user community for almost two years now. I wish I would have done more research before buying wootickets. I’m on a tight launch date here and I may need to throw out wootickets altogether because it’s going to take too much customization to get what I was sure would be a baked in feature. I know you guys said in prior posts that wootickets isn’t supposed to be a complex event management system, but associating a unique attendee name to each ticket shouldn’t be considered ‘advanced’.

    So my questions are:
    1. Is there anything I can do other than hacking the plugin core to quickly get this functionality?
    2. What other ticketing plugin could I use that would let me do this in woocommerce?

    Thanks

Hi there, Jodie! Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the forums. 🙂

Shoot, I’m really sorry you’re bumping into this. Unfortunately, there is no way to associate individual names to transactions that include multiple tickets. You did a great job finding that feature request on our UserVoice page and it is something we hope to release along with an entire overhaul of our ticketing framework. I don’t have have a concrete release date for that release, but I’ve heard it could be very early 2015. Again, that may be more personal speculation than an actual target.

    1. Is there anything I can do other than hacking the plugin core to quickly get this functionality?

Adding additional fields to checkout is certainly possible. But, most methods that I have seen for doing that only add (at most) an additional field for each item type in the cart, not an additional field for each item in the cart. For instance, if you have two products, like two tickets for two separate events, then you could get two additional fields. But what happens when a user orders 5 of each? You still only get two additional fields.

A solution to that is to request that your user input the names as a comma separated list. If they purchase a ticket for three people, then they would need to input the following into the additional field (e.g. “Bob, Jane, Jack”).

    2. What other ticketing plugin could I use that would let me do this in woocommerce?

Honestly, I’m unfamiliar with any other WooCommerce-specific ticketing plugins. It’s possible you could use a WooCommerce checkout add-on though, admittedly, I have not seen any examples of anyone using it with our plugins. It looks promising, but there’s a possibility it wouldn’t integrate smoothly either.

I’m sorry I don’t have concrete answers for you, and I imagine these weren’t the exact answers you were hoping for, but I hope they help answer your questions.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Hey there, Jodie! It’s been a while so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread. If we can help with anything else, though, please don’t hesitate to open a new thread. We’d be happy to help. 🙂

    Cheers!
