ParticipantHello, after installing events calendar among several issues I`ve had, the largest is that my home page no longer loads. It bumps you directly to the news feed (I have a static front page). Events are not included in my main blog loop. Please help! My website is live and I have users that need to access the home page!!! I will have to remove this plugin if I can`t find a resolution soon.

ParticipantHi Sean,
Did you possibly get this resolved yourself? When I go to your website, it appears to be a static front page. And when I go to the /events/ page, that seems to be okay too.
Am I missing something?

ParticipantHi Julie,
I removed the events list widget from the homepage, then I removed the events calendar plugin and reloaded it. It now works. I added the tag cloud just to see what would happen and its fine. So there must be something wrong with the behavior between the events list widget, perhaps the graphene theme, or static home page. I’m not sure what the error was, but removing that widget seems like a good enough fix for me (though I do think it would be great if I could put it on the homepage!). Let me know if a resolution comes for this and I will put the widget back on the homepage.
Thanks.October 24, 2013 at 11:59 am #72776gymnasticsontario
ParticipantHello Again,
My lovely fix did not work. It is bumping to the news feed again. You can not click the homepage from anywhere on the site. I’m going to complete the same action as above again to at least fix it for a day (as it seems to work temporarily), but please let me know how to fix this.October 24, 2013 at 12:42 pm #72780gymnasticsontario
ParticipantAnd once more. Just removed the tag cloud and our website after about 10 minutes when back to normal. I’m not sure what’s going on here… Currently we have nothing on the home page and it seems to be working fine, but I don’t know how long it will work. Will update again but would appreciate some help on this.

ParticipantHi Sean,
That’s frustrating, and a little crazy! Can you verify that you have tried disabling all the other plugins? And have you tried it with the default Twenty Eleven theme? In addition, can you copy and send all the system information that can be found under the Events > Help area? You can do that as a private message if you’d like.
It really sounds like it’s a conflict with another plugin, or possibly something in your theme. But let’s see if we can identify it.

ParticipantHi Sean,
Can I ask why you have so many calendar plugins? It really seems like there might be some real potential for conflict there. In particular, the AJAX one gives me cause for concern.

ParticipantHi Julie,
AJAX was our last calendar, it is deactivated now. I just didn’t want to delete it until these issues were resolved as I may end up switching back to it if we can’t figure this out.
Event Espresso Calendar we use for a separate calendar. We need to clearly distinguish between a ‘public’ calendar and a member ‘calendar’.
Side note, without changing anything, this morning the homepage is loading normally. I’m at a loss as to what is going on. I have deactivated AJAX. Does it matter if it’s deactivated or completely removed? I’d prefer not to remove it until all this is resolved as I don’t want to re-input everything if the need arises.

ParticipantSean,
Yeah, AJAX can be problematic. It has to be written just so. And the likelihood of plugins written by different folks being written “just so” in order for them to play nicely together is kind of slim.
Since you deactivated it and the home page seems normal at the moment, should we wait a day or so and see if that’s resolved the issue? If it continues to work, then you can decide if you want to completely delete it or not.
Keep me posted on how it’s behaving, if you would.

ParticipantHi Julie,
Still looks good today. I will keep you posted on how it does!October 31, 2013 at 9:06 am #74041gymnasticsontario
ParticipantHi Again,
So, I have changed nothing… and as of 5 minutes ago all of a sudden, our homepage does not load once again.
I also now have the problem of November events (only some) not showing up on the calendar that is similar to other users.
Above all else, I need the home page to load, this has been almost two weeks, please help!October 31, 2013 at 5:02 pm #74164Rob
MemberHey Sean. Julie passed your note along my way, and I wanted to step in here because I’m a bit concerned at the specifics of this problem. I really apologize for your poor experience so far. I know what it’s like to be faced with a problem like this and we do want to do our best to get you sorted.
That said: based on what I’m seeing here it sounds like this is almost certainly a byproduct of something else at your system – either a conflict with another plugin or the theme (I know you’ve deactivated other plugins, but I’m not sure by reviewing the thread if you ever have tested on a Twenty Eleven/Twenty Twelve/Twenty Thirteen). If this is not a conflict then there may be something at play with your hosting setup. To be honest I’m not sure how much more we’ll be able to do given that this is the first report I’ve ever seen of such an issue, and it sounds like something other than our plugin is causing the problem.
We’d be totally able to pass along the names of freelance developers if you need someone to spend time looking at identifying the conflict/jumping under the hood to make everything play nicely. And we’re able to offer you a refund here in case you would rather not use the plugin at all (it looks like you have a couple of your past fall-back options still ready as needed). But I hope you can understand where we’re coming from when I say that we can’t dig much deeper on this issue.

ParticipantHi Rob,
Thank you for the reply. Unfortunate that there doesn’t seem to be a resolution. I’m going to think on options over the weekend and will let you know how we proceed next week. Other sites with the graphene theme seem to be using the calendar, so I suspect it is a conflict of plugins. But with the issue seeming to have zero consistency it is so hard to pin point! A developer may be the way to go on this one.
Cheers.November 1, 2013 at 2:15 pm #74323Rob
MemberHey Sean: thanks for this follow-up. I’m sorry to hear that those solutions don’t get you where you need to be…why don’t you let us know after thinking it over how you’d like to proceed, and we’ll take it from there. Sound good?
