    Hello!
I need to resolve some doubts about categories, tags and templates…
I´ll try to be as quick as possible…

    1. When I installed the Event plugin there weren´t categories. So my problem is that when I select “events” (in my menu), as it is a custom content type and not a category, it appears directly with the default template of my theme, and not with the template that I have created for the events categories. My question is… is it possible to create a ‘default events template’ to apply the style I want to events custom content type? or do I have to create a category called “events” to make this possible?

    2. Can I use tags to list events of such tags in the calendar grid and events list views? For example, I have the categories ‘music’ and ‘theatre’; I want to allow users to search with the tags ‘city’ and ‘price’. Is this possible?? Should I create an archive-event.php to customize it?

    Thank you friends!

Hey there Javier. Thanks for reaching out, and for the feedback here. To address these points:

    1. So if I understand you correctly, you want a default events template different than the one provided under Settings –> The Events Calendar? If so, have you checked out whether Jonah’s recently-published themer’s guide could be of service on this? It’s right here: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/. Let me know if that doesn’t help and I’ll see if Jonah can comment directly.

    2. The only tag functionality we’ve got at this point would have to be done with a hack we published on the site here a while ago based on a user-provided article (https://theeventscalendar.com/integrating-wordpress-categories-tags-with-your-events/). We do have official tag support coming in 2.1 that should be a smoother experience. And we also just today began working on a geo-search to show to do exactly what you’ve noted: allow users to search for, say, events in my city or 5 miles from me or whatever. If you were looking for something more immediate it’s possible it could be coded manually or done with a third-party plugin…but sadly that’s outside the realm of what we can provide customization on at this point.

Sorry I couldn’t offer up more. If you’ve got questions on the above or any follow-ups, let me know and I’ll do what I can to assist. Thanks!

Yo Javier: awesome to hear that did the trick. Jonah will be pumped to hear the themer’s guide was of value to you 🙂

We actually just started 2.1 this morning, now that 2.0.7 is done (and will be available to download sometime today). No guarantees but I don’t see us taking longer than a month or so to finalize 2.1. It’ll be out some time this summer.

Hope that helps. If we can do anything else, just holler.
