Hide events from main calendar but not from an embedded calendar

I know how to embed a calendar by category and have done so successfully all over our Intranet. However, I need to see if I can hide certain categories from the main calendar view, but not on that page where I’ve specifically embedded them.

Example: I create a category I call “schedule” and I embed a calendar only displaying events in that category. These events also show up automatically on the main calendar. However I want them NOT to be displayed there, I ONLY want them on the embedded calendar.

“Hide event” hides it across the board.
