Help with White Font on White Boxes

I have tried using the instructions provided to get my plugin to over-ride the theme settings. I have inserted custom html code into the plugin under settings. NOTHING is working.

In the boxes on the detailed event page, they are the whitest grey boxes. I need either the boxes a darker grey so the white lettering will come out – or I need the lettering to default to black.

How do I do this? Will PAY for any assistance I can get.
