ParticipantHi,
I am very much thinking of buying a Event Ticketing/Registration plugin to my WordPress site. The type of Events that we are having are mostly training Events. These Events takes place in different cities and have different “organizers”.
Before, I’ve used my limited PHP and MySQL skills to program a simple registration page, but now I want to move into buying a ready system instead. 🙂
I’ve search around a lot and there seems to be many to choose from. But I felt that since I use The Event Calendar PRO, I would like to buy something that is integrated with this. 🙂My challenge now is to figure out which of the plugins that are offered on Modern Tribe I shall buy?! 🙂
There is EDD, Shop & WPEC tickets plugin, but which shall I select?
Watching the New Primers tutorials, they seem to be almost identical.
I’d need some help in my decision making. 🙂Thank you in advance for a speedy reply!
Sincerely,

MemberHey Andreas! Thanks for reaching out here, and for your interest in finding a ticketing plugin that integrates nicely with your Events Calendar PRO setup 🙂 I’m happy to provide my two cents here.
I think right off the bat you WooCommerce Tickets might be a good place to start…simply because WooCommerce itself is extremely popular/quite user-friendly/has a huge community surrounding it. That’s not to say it’s better than WPEC or Shopp or EDD, but if you’re looking for a lot of supplemental resources/add-ons to extend the commerce engine’s functionality/etc, it’s where a lot of users in the same boat get started.
Also: since it sounds like most/all of your events are offline and in the “real world,” EDD Tickets may not be the best fit. EDD Tickets is generally associated with digital products…so if you need things like stock management and don’t plan on offering digital/downloadable products in the future, the EDD commerce engine might not provide what you need. Then again, if that’s not a concern for you or if you don’t think the commerce engine will be used for anything beyond ticket sales, that might be a non-issue.
I hope that helps! If it didn’t, or if you’d like further detail here, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

ParticipantHi Rob!
Thank you for taking time to answer so thoroughly , I appreciate it a lot!
Based on your response, I first thought that WooCommerce might be the thing, but since all that takes place for us, is that we need an Event Registration system so that all attendees have to register in order to be able to attend. Having a ticket is just a “confirmation” of their registration, but the value is also that a “ticket” is sent to the attendee.
Payment is most often being done through transferring between banks and there is no need at this point to use other payment options like accepting credit card.
Well at the Event, people come and just check off that they are there and there is a “check-off” list present.
Since our Event Calendar is used to publish different Events conducted by different people/business, the tickets cannot contain one and the same organizer name, due to that it can differ between Events.
I personally think that you guys are evolving forward in a good way and you are open to improve and listen to input/feedback, which is something that I value as a “customer”. I’ve been looking at a competitor of yours (I think they are) and that is Event Espresso, but I feel that I want to go with you guys instead. 🙂So, in short summary, I’ll think I’ll buy the EDD Tickets and give it a try. Not sure what the biggest difference is between EDD, WPEC or Shopp. They seem to really look the same in the GUI and functionality.
Again, thank you for taking time to answer so quickly! I have to today setup this “registration/ticket” system because we got a bigger Event to be published today. 🙂
Thank you again Rob!
Sincerely,
Andreas -
