Help! I have Events Calendar PRO version and my events disappeared upon update

I just updated to the new version of Events Calendar to get the new Events Calendar PRO release and the Events plugin is now gone and all of my Events have disappeared and can no longer be accessed. Also, all of my widgets are no longer appearing on the sidebars. I have a message on my plugins screen stating “To begin using Events Calendar PRO, please install the latest version of The Events Calendar” which is what I initially did. When I try to reinstall again, I get the following message “Installing the plugin… Destination folder already exists. /services/webpages/c/a/calgarynewcomersclub.com/public/site/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/. Plugin install failed.”

I found out how to FTP to my database and deleted the files there and it seems to work now. Fingers crossed.

Deleting the existing folder is exactly the thing to do in this situation. All your events should be safe in the database.
